
For the fourth year in a row, the Central College dance team won the American Rivers Conference Championship, this time doing so on its home court.
P.H. Kuyper Gymnasium was the site of the Conference Cheer and Dance Championships on Sunday. Central’s dance program won the pom, jazz and hip-hop divisions to cruise to the overall title. The Dutch have won all four titles since the sport was elevated to be an official league championship sport. Individually, Chayse Gilchrist, MeLayna Budinich and Jada Nelson were recognized as first team all-conference performers. The Dutch cheer squad was entered into the Game Day routine invitational, finishing third. Freshman Brooklyn Duncan was tabbed as honorable mention all-conference.
Central will compete in the National Dance Alliance and National Cheerleaders Association College Nationals in Daytona Beach, Florida on April 9th-10th.
