The Marion County Commission of Veterans Affairs announced a new event for all veterans called “Comrade Coffee.”
The debut will be held on Wednesday from 9:00 am to 11:00 am at the Pierschbacher Event Center, 308 West Main St, in Knoxville. Coffee will be provided by the Commission of Veterans Affairs and Kwik Star will provide an assortment of pastries. The gathering will have no agenda or program, and is meant solely to facilitate fellowship and encourage information sharing among local veterans. Veterans will also have an opportunity to ask questions about their VA benefits. Knoxville American Legion Post Commander Curt Froyen says this event is a great opportunity for camaraderie with other veterans.
“Sometimes it’s a lot easier just visiting in a comfortable situation over some coffee, cookies, and pastries that will be provided by Kwik Star of Knoxville. I think it’s a great opportunity for veterans to have camaraderie if nothing else. We all know, especially when we get older, that maintaining good social contacts is a very important thing for our mental health as well.”
No reservations are required. Hear more about the event from Froyen on today’s Let’s Talk Knoxville.
