
The Newton Police Department has filed a class D felony charge against a Knoxville woman who allegedly stole over $4,000 from the business where she worked. 36-year-old Emily Jo Johnson is accused of pocketing money from O’Reilly’s Auto Parts from January 3rd of last year through February 6th of this year. According to the court filed criminal complaint, Johnson admitted to stealing $4,535 from the auto parts store by completing 35 separate return transactions and pocketing the cash. In each instance, the police say no customer was involved in the transaction and no product was returned to the store.
Johnson was charged Friday with 2nd degree theft, and was released on a summons to appear. Her court appearance is pending.
