Newton bowler Jeremiah Killmer is going to the Class 2A 2026 Boys State Bowling Tournament in Waterloo on Wednesday, February 25th. Killmer placed 7th at the Individual State Qualifying Meet in Ballard on Monday with a 3-game score of 649. Killmer’s individual game scores were 213, 254, and 182. The top eight individual bowlers from each of the four qualifying meets move on to the state tournament. Owen Kearse and Braden Baskerville were the Cardinals’ next highest bowlers with scores of 569 and 566. 

The Newton boys’ team finished fifth out of the nine teams at the qualifying meet, with the top two schools advancing to state. The Cardinals were 104 pins out of second place, with a score of 2,850.
