The PCM boys basketball team defeated South Hamilton Monday night in their opening round of Class 2A Substate 3 play.

The Mustangs led 16-6 at the end of the first quarter but the Hawks put together a strong second quarter offensively to close the gap and go into half with PCM on top 30-27. The Mustangs lead would shrink slightly at the end of the third quarter as they led 41-39 at the end of the frame. Ultimately PCM would hold on for a 57-50 win to keep their season alive against a familiar conference opponent. PCM was led in scoring by Kevin Thomas who had 15 points and Kash Fischer who had 13. PCM will now take on Van Meter on the road Thursday.
