For the third consecutive year, the Pella High School Bionic Dutch have earned a spot at the Iowa FTC State Robotics Championships.

Coach Brent Ewell says a strong showing in the qualification tournament advanced the team to the championship bracket. The team’s overall performance secured a return trip to the state competition, scheduled for Friday, February 27 and Saturday, February 28 in Coralville.

In addition to qualifying for state, the Bionic Dutch were honored with the Connect Award, recognizing the team’s year-long efforts to engage the community, students, and local businesses in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Manufacturing (STEM).

Chetan Vanam was also recognized as a Dean’s List Leadership Finalist, with final results to be announced at the State Championship.
