The Pella Christian girls basketball team continues their run in the Class 3A Region 3 tournament tonight, traveling to #12 Mid-Prairie for the semifinals.
The 10-12 Eagles opened regional action with a dominant 46-26 victory over Chariton on Saturday, with Rachel Kacmarynski leading the way with 21 points and 19 rebounds. After trailing 11-5 going into the second quarter of their first round game, the 17-5 Golden Hawks outscored Albia 48-24 over the final three quarters to advance to tonight’s contest. Mid-Prairie has been led on the season by the trio of Morgyn Bender, Jovi Evans, and Brooklyn Schneider, who combine to average 34.9 of the team’s 57.8 points per game. Following their win on Saturday, Pella Christian head coach Jon Mumm said he was grateful to be able to keep the season going.
