The Pleasantville girls basketball team stunned Mount Ayr on the road in the Class 2A Region 6 quarterfinals on Tuesday.
The Trojans had a tough test ahead of them against a 20-1 #12 ranked Raiders squad and proved to be up to the task at hand. Pleasantville trailed 16-9 at the end of the first quarter but outscored the Raiders 20-11 in the second quarter to go into half on top 29-27. The Trojans held their own in the third quarter and closed out the frame tied at 38 a piece. Pleasantville then pulled together a gutsy fourth quarter effort to pull out a 58-50 statement win. Liv Klootwyk led the way in scoring with 18 points as Kylie Jolly and Ryleigh Hardman both had nine.
The Trojan girls keep their season and a potential state tournament berth alive as they will now take on Sigourney on Friday in the regional semifinals.
