The Knoxville City Council approved a 28E agreement with Marion County for the Knoxville Area Pavement Rehabilitation Project at their meeting Monday.

This is a partnership with Marion County, which will consist of three Knoxville area road projects including asphalt overlay on 110th Ave., mill and overlay on McKimber Drive, and mill and overlay on South Attica Road. Marion County is contributing $1 million in local option sales tax funding for the project, and the City of Knoxville will pay $450,000. The County approved their portion of the funding at a meeting earlier in the month. City Manager Heather Ussery says the project will save the city money and they were happy to partner with the county.

“We have in our pavement management study that these portions would’ve been looked at in 2031 so about four years early that we are able to do this and it will be about a $400,000 savings to the city so we’re grateful for that partnership with the County and being able to work together.”

The project is expected to be completed in fall of 2026. A map of the project can be found below.
