The Knoxville Girls Basketball Squad fell to Gilbert in the 1st round of the class 4A regional on Wednesday 59-21, a game heard live on 95.3 KNIA. The Panthers found themselves down big early 20-0 before scoring six points in the 2nd quarter, but they were too far down to make a comeback. Knoxville did play better in the 2nd half only getting outscored 18-15. Coach Tracy Wilkins told KNIA/KRLS Sports they played much better in the 2nd half and showed what they could do.

Wilkins: “It allowed our kids to play with confidence. They saw some things going their way. I told them one time “I love what you’re doing, we’re not running anything, you’re just playing, so I really appreciate that.”

Olivia Sanford scored six points to lead Knoxville. The Panthers finish at 0-22 this season and will see three seniors depart, Merissa Borwig, Karalee Kennedy, and Alyanna Alvarado.
