The leadership team at Pella Regional Health Center hosted several key figures from across the state last Thursday.

The visit focused on strategic growth initiatives, the expansion of services, and ongoing investments in access to healthcare in rural areas. Among those in attendance were Director of Iowa Health and Human Services Larry Johnson, Director of Iowa Medicaid Lee Grossman, State Medical Director Dr. Robert Kruse, Chief Medical Officer of Medicaid Dr. Michael Line, and State Representative Barb Kniff McCulla.

During the visit, Directors met with the administrative team and key service line directors for in-depth discussions about several major projects shaping the future of care in the region. The central focus of the meeting was a presentation outlining the new South Central Iowa Radiation Center, which is currently under construction. Leadership shared updates on the project’s progress and emphasized how it will enhance access to advanced oncology services. Further conversations highlighted the planned expansion of the Medical Office Building and ongoing provider recruitment efforts. Hospital leadership emphasized a commitment to expanding both primary and specialty care services to ensure patients in the rural service area have access to comprehensive healthcare close to home.

The visit also included a tour of the Family Birthing Center, where Directors learned about annual birth volumes, the wide range of counties served, and the amenities designed to support families. Administration shared the benefits of a new dedicated C-section suite, which enhances patient safety, improves workflow efficiency, and further elevates the birthing experience for families throughout the region.
