Pleasantville’s Blake Rowson will compete at the Iowa High School Boys State Wrestling Tournament today as the boys basketball team will travel to Grundy Center in the Class 2A substate 3 quarterfinals.

Rowson is coming off a first place finish at Pleasantville’s Class 1A District Meet hosted by Sigourney on Saturday. Rowson surpassed many milestones for the Trojans this season including being the school’s all-time wins leader and he will now compete at the state meet for the first time. Rowson is 47-5 on the season and will compete in the Class 1A 144 pound bracket. Rowson received a first round bye and will face the winner between Charlie Christensen of ACGC and Chase O’Reily of Lenox in his first match. Today’s first session at the Casey’s Center in Des Moines which includes Class 1A will start at 9:00 am. Stay tuned to KNIA/KRLS for state wrestling updates. 

The Pleasantville boys basketball team will have a tough test ahead against the #5 ranked Spartans who are 20-1 overall this season. The Trojans are coming off a commanding 65-38 win over West Marshall Monday night in their opening game of substate play. Pleasantville sits at 14-8 on the year and are led in scoring by Braylon Bingham who averages 22 points per game. Tonight’s game in Grundy Center starts at 7:00 pm.
