
Simpson College Productions is presenting the premiere of The Old Maid and the Thief, a comic one-act opera. Simpson Productions has two showings of the one-act opera today at 7:30, followed by a matinee at 2 pm tomorrow.
Originally commissioned for radio in 1939, The Old Maid and the Thief is a tale of gossip, deception, and the facades maintained in the name of propriety. Set in a quiet American town, the opera follows the lives of Miss Todd and her housemaid Letitia as they take in a charming wanderer, only to find themselves entangled in increasingly outrageous moral compromises.
