
After dominating Albia Thursday night, the Pella Christian boys basketball team will square off with Grand View Christian for the Class 2A District 12 Championship on Tuesday.
The Thunder, the number three seed in the district, opened up the postseason with a dominant 76-36 victory over sixth-seeded Davis County last Monday, before defeating second-seeded Centerville 65-49 on Friday. A second-year member of the Heart of Iowa Conference, Grand View Christian finished third in the league with a record of 11-5, while posting a 2-4 record in non-conference games.
As a team, Grand View Christian ranks second among Class 2A squads in blocks per game with 113, led by senior Brayden Hoben with 68 of those individually. In addition to blocks, Hoben leads the Thunder in all major stat categories, averaging over 20 points, nine rebounds, two assists, three blocks and one steal per game. In a 48-47 Pella Christian victory over Grand View Christian on December 18th, Hoben recorded a double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds, while William Seyler added 13 points.
