A new airport fueling station project is coming to the Knoxville Municipal Airport.

The project is a new airport fueling station (fuel farm) that will replace outdated infrastructure and provide safer, more efficient access for aircraft. This is a federally-funded FAA improvement project that modernizes the airport and supports safe operations. The total project is  95% federally funded, with the rest of the cost as a small local share.

Knoxville Airport Manager Katie Shawver says this project is important because reliable, accessible fuel service is a core part of keeping the airport functional for local pilots, business aviation, flight training, and emergency operations and that it also supports medical flights, emergency response, and disaster relief when needed.

Shawver adds that airports are a major community asset and economic driver.  She says projects like this help protect and grow the long-term value the airport provides to Knoxville and Marion County.
