Knoxville Raceway continues to prepare for the upcoming racing season and Raceway General Manager Jason Reed is featured on today’s Let’s Talk Knoxville.
The season will open on April 18th with the Pella Motors/Kraig Ford 73rd annual season opener and since the final checkered flag of last season, the race track has been busy preparing for this upcoming year. During the offseason, staff at the track has focused on a couple of projects, including adding more concrete parking, replacing guardrails at the track, and working on a ticket office project. The racetrack holds weekly shows on Saturday nights and will host the largest annual sprint car event in the world, the Knoxville Nationals, on August 12-15 and General Manager Jason Reed says this is an event they prepare for year round.
Four, three, and two day ticket packages for the Knoxville Nationals are now on sale and single day tickets will go on sale March 1st. Knoxville Raceway and Kraig Ford partnered together to provide free tickets to the season opener on April 18th, which are available to anyone. Reed tells KNIA/KRLS that it’s a great opportunity to get people to the track who have never been or bring back old race fans who have been away for a while.
“I’m going to challenge our regular fans that come weekly or several times a year to find ten people that have never been. It doesn’t cost them to come that night so they can come and check it out. I think it means a lot for people who come to the track for the first time to have someone with them to explain what’s going on.”
