Looking to secure their fourth appearance in the substate finals in the last five years, the Pella Christian boys basketball team hosts Grand View Christian tonight in the Class 2A District 12 Championship game.
The 13-10 Eagles used their highest-scoring effort of the season to win their postseason opener 84-43 over Albia last Thursday. The 14-9 Thunder have played twice in district action, defeating Davis County by 40 points last Monday, before advancing to tonight’s contest with a 16-point victory over Centerville last Thursday. Dating back to 2016, tonight’s contest will be the seventh meeting between Pella Christian and Grand View Christian and the second this season. The Eagles hold a 4-2 advantage in the prior meetings, winning the first three games in the series in 2016, 2019, and January 2024, and adding a 48-47 victory earlier this season. The Thunder grabbed their lone two wins in the matchup last winter, including a 55-39 victory in the District Title game.
Coverage of the District Championship game on Eagle Lane tonight can be found on the KRLS2 stream and on the Pella Christian YouTube channel, beginning with pregame coverage at 6:30 pm.
