Pella High School junior Alex Bishara closed out the Iowa High School Boys Bowling season in a tie for 16th place with a 639 series (234, 189, 216) Wednesday at Cadillac XBC in Waterloo. Bishara finished the season with a run of four strikes. In his second straight appearance in the State Individual Tournament, Bishara posted the second-best State Tournament score in school history.

“Alex had some inopportune splits in the middle of his second game that were a blow to his clean bowling today, but he responded with no open frames the rest of the way, and finished the last game on a nice run of strikes,” said Head Coach Lynn Bishara. “I’m proud of his resilience in the intense environment today and his performance all season. I know he will come back next season with more goals to achieve.”

Alex and teammate Carter Failor finished the season as Class 2A All-District (the western half of the state of Iowa) second team bowlers. Both of them will represent the state of Iowa in the USBC Junior Gold Championships in July in Minneapolis, Minnesota; Alex for the second consecutive year, and Carter for the third.
