The World Food Prize Foundation continued their 2026 tour across Iowa with CEO Tom Vilsack visiting Pella High School and the Pella Area Community & Economic Alliance on Friday.

The former Iowa Governor and U.S. Secretary of Agriculture worked to connect with students and educators about the role young leaders will play in shaping the future of global food security.

Students learned how they can take part in the Foundation’s Youth Institutes—an opportunity to dive deeper into the world’s most pressing hunger and food security challenges and explore real-world solutions that can make a difference.

Pella High School will have six participants in the Iowa Youth Institute this April:
Aniah Rozenboom
Gillian Van Wyk
Isaac Schue
Olive Picray
Layla Rosas
Jackson Renaud

Vilsack also met with local leaders, including Representative Barb Kniff McCulla and Senator Ken Rozenboom.
