Newton senior Tori White had a big impact on this year’s girls basketball team. The lone senior started 22 of 23 games and was the team’s second leading scorer with 181 points. She shot 41.5% from the field and 64.7% from the free throw line. White was the second leading rebounder with 144, and was second in assists with 45. She led the team in steals with 54. Head coach Jake Bennett says White’s play set a great example for the less experienced players.

“When I think of Tori I just think of intensity, determination, hustling up and down the floor. On the defensive end especially, she gave everything that she had. She was a big part of setting the tone and how to play with that intense mindset, especially early on in practice when our sophomores really hadn’t experienced that yet.”

During White’s junior and senior seasons, the Cardinals went 23-23. She played in all 46 games and started 44 of them, scoring 363 points, grabbing 315 rebounds, and dishing out 82 assists.
