The Simpson softball team has been selected as the favorite to take home the league regular season title. The Storm earned 62 points and seven first-place votes in the American Rivers Conference preseason poll. The Storm enter the 2026 season after a 34-9 campaign and an NCAA Tournament run in 2025. Simpson returns seven starters and five pitchers from last year’s conference championship team. The Storm also bring back two NFCA All-Americans in Megan Heidelbauer and Ashlyn Steen, along with multiple all-conference selections, including Emma LaFave, Caelyn Obleton, Katie Shaner, and Mackenzie James. 

The Storm begin their season today in Eau-Claire, Wisconsin with a doubleheader against Illinois-Wesleyan.
