In its second year of existence, the Knoxville Girls Wrestling Squad made leaps and bounds improvements across the board. The Panthers won a meet this season, had a winning record in dual meets at 18-7, and sent two girls to the State Meet. Coach Doug Hatch tells KNIA/KRLS Sports the girls wrestled much more confidently this season in tougher meets.
Hatch: “We beat a lot of rated kids this year, won a tournament, and finished 2nd in several others. As far as records go, we had three winning records and this year we had 10, so a great improvement by all of them.”
While the Panthers will lose four key seniors to graduation, Serenity Turner, Cally Landis, Andie Branson, and Alyssa McCreery. Hatch adds many of the remaining girls were young and will have two or even three seasons remaining.
