Iowa House District 38 candidate Brad Magg is making his second attempt to win the seat in the Iowa House of Representatives that covers northern and eastern Jasper County, including the communities of Newton, Baxter, Colfax, Kellogg, Lynnville, Mingo, Oakland Acres, Reasnor, Sully, and Valeria. The Colfax Democrat lost the election for this seat two years ago to incumbent Republican Jon Dunwell. In this campaign, Magg says he’s going to do more self-promoting, which is something that he says goes against his nature.
“My parents raised me not to be a bragger. When something needs done, you just do it, not for the money or the fame or attention. You just do it. I don’t want to put that on social media, but I am told I need to be better about that.”
Magg launched his campaign for the District 38 Iowa House seat late last week at the Grey Moon Public Market in Newton. Hear more about his candidacy on today’s Let’s Talk Newton.
The only other announced candidate in the Iowa House District 38 race is Republican Matt Oleson, a Newton middle school teacher who lives just west of Grinnell.
