Tonight, the latest information on the childcare center Colfax Economic Development Corporation is building across from Colfax’s elementary school will be shared with the public at a meeting in Colfax’s Quarry Springs Park. 

The 12,000-square-foot, $3.4-million child care center is to open in June, and is the first project for the Colfax Economic Development Corporation. In late 2024, the Corporation received a $1.7 million Child Care Business Incentive Grant from Iowa Workforce Development to build the facility, which will have room for 140 newborn to school-aged children. That grant required a one-to-one match. 

The Colfax Economic Development Corporation is hosting tonight’s open to the public meeting at the block building at Quarry Springs Park in Colfax from 5:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Additional information about the new Colfax-Mingo Childcare Center can be found on the Colfax Economic Development Corporation website https://cedcoiowa.com/.
