A local group aiming to build a community that knows how to skate is hosting free lessons before closing for the season. Bob Zylstra and Terry Kleven with the Pella Ice Sports Association say they are hosting free skating instruction for youth at 4:30 p.m. this Thursday at Caldwell Park in Pella. Participants must bring their own skates, with some available for rental at the Pella Community Services Office between 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. on weekdays. A signed waiver will be required. The ice skating season in Pella will end this weekend, with the new chiller system set to shut down on Monday, March 9th.
