killmer-3

Newton sophomore Jeremiah Killmer competed in two state tournament events last week. Killmer placed 18th among the thirty-two bowlers at the Class 2A 2026 Boys Individual State Bowling Tournament in Waterloo last Wednesday. The sophomore’s three-game series was 638, while the State Champion bowled a 784. Killmer’s scores went up each game, as he became more comfortable at the tournament.

“It made me very nervous because it was my first time, because everyone is watching you.”

Then last Friday, Killmer says he wasn’t as nervous as he helped Newton High School’s Rocket League Esports team capture fourth place at the Iowa High School Esports Association’s Class 2A State Competition at the Orpheum Theater in Marshalltown. Killmer noted he’s played the Rocket League game since 2016. He did both bowling and Esports simultaneously and said he is ready for a break.
