The Norwalk High School robotics team continued its strong season with a top finish at the FTC Iowa Championship this weekend.
Competing against top teams from across the state, the RoboWarriors closed the first day ranked first in their division after earning two wins. By the end of qualification rounds, Norwalk held second place in the division standings.
In elimination play, Norwalk won the first bracket before finishing the tournament as the second Alliance captain and placing third in the Black Division with a score of 255.
In addition to their on-floor performance, the RoboWarriors were recognized for their innovation and leadership. The team earned second place for the Innovate Award, which recognizes creative design and engineering solutions. Team member Miranda Lamb was also named one of four recipients of the Leadership Award.
The state championship performance comes on the heels of Norwalk’s recent appearance at the inaugural FIRST United States Governor’s Cup in Washington, D.C., where the RoboWarriors represented Iowa on the national stage.
