The Pella City Council held a public hearing to approve a contract for an apron expansion at the Pella Municipal Airport at their meeting Tuesday evening.
The council received six bids for the paving project, and awarded a contract to TK Concrete for $445,930 — approximately $170,000 below the engineer’s estimate. The project will take place this summer, with completion scheduled by the end of September.
The council also approved the following resolutions:
Authorizing of participation in Iowa State University Electric Grid Resilience Cohort
Scheduling a public hearing for the proposed tax levy for fiscal year 2026-27
Authorizing of a Community Attraction and Tourism Agreement with the Iowa Economic Development Authority for the Pella Community Center renovation
Amending the Lely Urban Renewal Plan
A previously tabled ordinance discussing property tax levies in the Lely Urban Renewal Plan received a first reading as well.
During the policy and planning work session following regular business, the Pella City Council discussed the latest with a proposed dog park, an Iowa Rush Soccer Club agreement, and Mobile Food Unit changes to allow for operation on city-owned property. No formal action was taken, and all will be brought to future meetings.
