It was a small senior class for the Knoxville Boys Wrestling Squad this season, led by a wrestler that left his mark on the program. Regan Roberts ended his career as a two-time State qualifier, and a two time South Central Conference champion at 285 pounds. Coach Josh Link tells KNIA/KRLS Sports Roberts as a freshman had just nine wins, and knew he had to put in the work to reach his goals.
Link: “Regan started as a freshman with 9 wins. He started after that season that he was going to put in the work, and he started running and going to open mats and camps. Wrestling is not just a 3 month thing like it was 30 years ago.”
Roberts finished with a 37-8 record this season and became a member of the 100 wins club. Carter Loukota came out late last season to help Roberts get ready for the state tournament and was convinced to go out for the full season this year. Link says Malachi Swan added his presence in wrestling in a positive way all season.
