Despite a difficult season that saw several challenges this winter, positive attitudes shined through during an adversity-filled year for the Pella Christian girls basketball team.
With a variety of injuries, illness, and school events, the Eagles had 11 different girls start in at least one game throughout the season. In addition to the adversity of girls having to miss games, Pella Christian also saw their share of challenges from their opponents. In their 23 games this winter, the Eagles had seven games against five teams that were featured in the final rankings released by the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union. In spite of the hardships they faced, head coach Jon Mumm said he was grateful that the girls continued to remain positive throughout the season.
“I’m just so thankful for these girls and their strength, that they were able to continue to fight, continue to battle, continue to come to practice, to work hard, and the way that they supported each other. They just genuinely cared about each other, wrapped their arms around each other, and loved each other and helped each other get through those hard times.”
The Eagles finished the season with a 10-13 overall record, recording just their second double-digit win season in the last seven years.
