The Knoxville High School Drama Department spring musical Hadestown: Teen Edition will open tonight.

The production will run through Sunday at the Knoxville Performing Arts Center and will be directed by Jessica Duffy. Friday and Saturday performances will be at 7:00 pm, while the show on Sunday starts at 2:00 pm. Hadestown: Teen Edition is an adaptation of Anais Mitchell’s Tony-winning musical, modified for performance by teen actors and for a family audience. Leading cast members include Malichi Swan, Rebekah Bennett, Regan Roberts, Willow Kam, and Rashaun Boyer. Duffy encourages everyone in the community to come out to the performance and see all of the students’ hard work on display.

“These students have worked really hard for the last two months and they are really eager to finally have an audience in front of them, especially with some of the things that happen in Hadestown they actually break the fourth wall and they like talk to the audience or they get the audience to sing with them or clap with them and things like that and that’s not something you always see in theater so I think that’s also what is cool about Hadestown: Teen Edition.”
