The recently finished Knoxville Girls basketball season was not what anyone in the program wanted or expected. But with low numbers and a very inexperienced roster the Panthers struggled to compete in most games. While the returning players are hopeful for a better season next year, the offseason will be key in what happens between November and February. Coach Tracy Wilkins tells KNIA/KRLS Sports getting into the gym, weight room and other offseason work need to happen before any expectations for next season are set.
Wilkins: “We’ve got to spend a lot of time shooting and doing it the right way, and we also have to make some scorers out of players. We have to get into the weight room and get kids stronger. We have to take care of all of these things before any expectations are set and that’s the biggest piece.”
Wilkins is hopeful that a few girls who did not play this season will come back out for next year. He adds regardless of who comes out for the first practice work in the offseason must happen.
