A Newton woman is accused of diverting a portion of a man’s direct-deposited paycheck into her account. According to the Newton Police, 36-year-old Cassandra Galloway spent the $1,750 she illegally obtained from the victim between November 28, 2025, and January 22, 2026. The police say Galloway and the victim knew each other, and that she knew his electronic direct deposit username, password, and email. 

Galloway has been charged with 2nd degree theft and identity theft over $1,500 and under $10,000. Both charges are class D felonies. The Newton woman is free on a $10,000 bond, with a March 17th court appearance pending.
