Pleasantville senior Caylor Jones signed a letter of intent Friday to continue his baseball and academic career at Southeastern Community College.
Jones has been a major contributor as a pitcher in his first three seasons with the Trojans including being the winning pitcher in Pleasantville’s state championship win over Unity Christian last summer. Last season Jones pitched 45 ⅔ innings, had a 7-1 record, a 1.38 ERA, and recorded 54 strikeouts. Southeastern CC is a junior college and Jones hopes his opportunity there will set him up for success at a bigger school down the road. Jones says the environment around the Pleasantville program has helped him further his baseball career.
“Coaching is great and we do a lot of throwing in the winter just to get ready for everything and I feel like the team environment has been so much fun and hopefully I can have that at Southeastern. Just the environment around the game has been the best part of it.”
The Pleasantville baseball team will return everyone this year and they will open their season on May 18th. Hear more from Jones on an upcoming Lely Radio Sports Page segment.
