Pella Christian boy’s basketball alum Eric Mulder was one of five athletes recognized during the Senior Day festivities for the Iowa State men’s basketball program on Saturday afternoon.
The Cyclones hosted Arizona State in their regular season finale at Hilton Coliseum, using a 24-0 run in the second half to secure an 86-65 win over the Sun Devils. Mulder said it has been fun getting to play in front of a great crowd at Hilton Coliseum all season, and that Senior Day was no different.
“I mean, it was tough to appreciate it to its full extent, because it’s just been so good every time. But yeah, it was a lot of fun, and the whole year has been a lot of fun. Ultimately, we’ve been building to make a run in March, but I’ve loved my experience here. It’s been a great time. I love playing here, and especially in front of the fans in Hilton. It’s been something special that I’ll remember for the rest of my life.”
Mulder and Iowa State now turn their attention to the Big 12 Tournament in Kansas City this week. The Cyclones earned the five seed for the tourney, and after a first round bye, will take on either Baylor or Arizona State on Wednesday at 11:30 am. Eric said that while it’s been a great year in Ames, they’re focused on achieving their goal of making a deep run in the Big 12 and NCAA Tournaments.
“What we’ve done is kind of behind us and what we have left to do is still in the future, so we’re just focused on that. We’re just taking it one game at a time and focusing on beating the team that’s in front of us.”
