Former Knoxville Standout Athlete Koby Higginbotham’s freshman season at William Penn University keeps getting better. He became the first Statesmen to win a National Indoor Track and Field championship as he took 1st place in the 60 meter hurdles, breaking his own school record he set earlier in the indoor season with a pass :07.82 seconds Saturday in Gainsville, Florida. Higginbotham qualified 4th overall in Friday’s preliminary round and won the finals by :00.03. Higginbotham is the first national champion since another Knoxville native, Derek Seddon, won a discus title in 2017.
