A discussion about renaming the two Newton elementary schools that will be used next school year highlights the agenda for tonight’s Newton School Board meeting. That discussion is to be led by Superintendent Tom Messinger and Emerson Hough Elementary Principal Tara Zehr. Emerson Hough and Woodrow Wilson Elementaries will be closing at the end of this school year, while the newly renovated and enlarged Aurora Heights and Thomas Jefferson Elementary schools will be open.

Also on the school board’s agenda is a request to grant a field trip to Atlanta, Georgia, so DECA students can attend the DECA International Career Development Conference April 25th through the 29th, and consideration of a Cooperative Sponsorship Agreement with the Lynnville-Sully Community School District for Boys Soccer this school year.

This evening’s Newton School Board meeting begins at 6:30 p.m. in the EJH Beard Administration Center on First Avenue West.
