Indianola Mayor Steve Richardson held his monthly “Coffee with the Mayor” meeting last week at the Indianola Wellness Campus and taxes were one of the primary focal points of discussion. Richardson says the city will be able to keep their annual tax rates stable for 2026. 

“Pleasantly surprised we’re going to be able to keep our tax rates stable without change from last year. What is going to change though are the assessed values that people see on their properties. That’s what’s going to make their taxes go either up or down. Every individual household is going to be different. You may have a neighbor whose taxes increase and another neighbor’s taxes decrease.”
