The Knoxville School Board discussed the future of the Northstar Elementary project at their meeting Monday.
The board expressed their continued desire to place the item back on the November General Election ballot as the final third of funding for the project needs to be voted upon and it did not pass last November. The board also discussed ways to get more information out about the new school and how to communicate that to voters within the school district. The school valuation has increased by 6.88% which means the project will no longer bring an increase to property taxes. No action was taken but the board will continue to work on strategies to attempt to get the measure passed later in the year.
Also at the meeting the board approved spring/summer coaching contracts and an employee wage/salary/benefits proposal which brings an increase of pay to hourly staff.
