
The Newton FFA competed in some Leadership Development Events at the South Central District Convention held at Southeast Warren High School in Liberty Center on March 7th, and two teams are advancing to State. A Superior National Chapter Rating was earned, and four seniors also received the Academic Achievement Award. They were Solar Anderson, Mackenzie Cupples, Grace Guy, and Lance Zaabel.
The Chapter Program of Activities team of Grace Guy, Gaby Layton, and Carter Lehrman is headed to State with a 1st Gold rating. The Ag Impact team of Brantley Nearmeyer, Clayden Clymer, Caleb Colburn, Coen Whipple, Jack Zink, and Landen Terlouw are also statebound with a 2nd Gold rating. Other 2nd Gold ratings were earned in Greenhand Quiz by Sadie Booth and Braleigh Slings, and in Chapter Quiz by Guy, Lehrman, and Bentley Burtlow.
Silver ratings were earned by Zaabel in Treasurer’s Book and Brilea Moffit in Secretary’s Book, while Bronze designations went to Irason Jordan in FFA Creed, the Ag Impact team of Meghan Bright, Bristol Keith, Jase Layton, Sereana Takavesi, Natalie Williams, and Reagan VanderWeerdt, and the
Parliamentary Procedure team of Burtlow, Layla Purvis, Izabella Whitson, Alyssa Turner, and Heather Hanson. Layton received a Participation designation in Reporter’s Scrapbook.
