The Norwalk Community School District will continue investing in fine arts programs after the Norwalk School Board approved curriculum cycle purchases for both art and music during a recent meeting.
District officials say the art purchases include general classroom supplies used across the K–12 program. Administrators noted that state art standards have not significantly changed, and the purchases are intended to support the district’s existing program structure. The board also approved music curriculum purchases, which are largely focused on new instruments and licensing for updated music materials as part of the district’s regular curriculum cycle. Norwalk Schools Superintendent Shawn Holloway tells KNIA News the investment reflects the district’s commitment to maintaining a well-rounded educational experience for students.
“As our district continues to grow, we have a responsibility to ensure every student has access to high-quality art and music programs that support their learning and development.”
District leaders say fine arts programs play an important role in supporting skills such as critical thinking, collaboration, and student expression, while also aligning with the district’s mission of developing learners and leaders across all grade levels.
