A Knoxville Chamber of Commerce ribbon cutting was held for Pawsitively Thrifty in Knoxville on Wednesday.
Pawsitively Thrifty, whose proceeds financially support the Marion County Humane Society, officially opened in December. The thrift store is open Tuesday through Saturday and is located at 202 E Washington St., which is the former site of Pierschbacher Funeral Home. Pawsitively Thrifty has a wide variety of items in the store and they are always accepting donations, which can be dropped off at the side door.
The building was purchased by Marion County Humane Society President Leslie Vanderlinden and her husband Brad as a way to help offset rising costs at the shelter. With many shelters in the state and across the country shutting down, Pawsitively Thrifty wanted to ensure that the local shelter can still remain operational. Leslie says they are already seeing a positive impact from the thrift store.
“We’re happy and lucky to have such great community support for our store. We have a lot of variety and pretty much constant donations from the public which we greatly appreciate. It’s really helping the humane society keep the doors open and work toward funding new kennels, a new van and some other things we really need out at the shelter.”
Those interested in volunteering at the humane society or thrift store can find volunteer forms at either location. Hear more from Leslie on an upcoming Let’s Talk Knoxville.
