Coming off of a fifth consecutive top three trophy with a large portion of the state meet roster returning and several newcomers expected to contribute, the Pella boys track and field team is optimistic that the results of the IATC indoor championship meet are a preview of things to come.

The Dutch narrowly defeated Gilbert by .5 point to win the indoor championship at ISU this spring, having placed either 1st or 2nd every year in the event since it was created five years ago.

Pella did so last week without multiple-time state medalist Harrison Mullens, who was wrapping up his basketball season at the state tournament earlier in the week. Once the Dutch are at full strength, senior hurdler Caiden Johnson and junior long jump specialist and sprinter Owen Kettler are both excited for the team’s potential throughout the upcoming outdoor season.

Pella will have a handful of entries at this week’s Central College indoor meet, held this Friday at the Kuyper Fieldhouse. A full season preview is coming soon for the Dutch on KNIA/KRLS.
