The Knoxville Girls Track and Field Squad is expecting a solid season this year, and the coaching staff grew a little during the offseason. Former PCM Girls Track and Field Coach Eric Karr has been brought on as an assistant to Panthers Coach Michael Splavec. Splavec tells KNIA/KRLS Sports Karr will work primarily with the sprinters and hurdlers. He adds it gives him the freedom to oversee the entire program while adding his expertise.
Splavec: “Me being able to have more flexibility to have Coach Karr come on. When the distance runners are having a light workout, I can go over to the throwers and see how they’re doing, or see what the sprinters are doing. It makes it easier for me to dabble in just about everything.”
Along with Karr, Mikayla Splavec and Doug Bacon will also be on the staff. Knoxville is set to run at the Central College Indoor meet this Saturday. The outdoor season gets underway next Tuesday at Simpson College.
