As part of their annual spring break trips, the Central College men’s and women’s golf teams both finished fifth at the Hal Sutton Invitational hosted by Centenary College (La.) on Tuesday. Playing at The Golf Club at Stonebridge on the Par-72 course, the Central recorded a two-day score of 371-384—755, while the men shot 330-294-624.

Allie Pfantz paced the Dutch women by sharing ninth place after shooting 88-82—170. Mickey Martens was 26th with 94-92—186. Chloe Sundet was 30th after carding 95-97—192 and Bella Keaveney tied for 32nd in 107-100—207. Carding the lowest 18-hole score of any golfer in the field Tuesday, Central men’s golfer Bautista Valeiras finished sixth in the tournament. After shooting 82 in Monday’s first round, he shot a 69 for the only round under 70 in the field. Carter Yurgae was 12th (82-72-154) and Lincoln Eighmy was 23rd (84-74-158). Rounding out Central’s varsity five were Maison Brandt was 34th (82-81-163) and Blake Wynn was 39th (87-79-166). Playing as individuals, Crew Klingner finished 38th (87-78-165) and Alex Gast was 62nd (126-101-227).

The Central women next travel to Bloomington, Illinois for the Kathy Niepagen Spring Fling hosted by Illinois Wesleyan University on April 11th and 12th. The Dutch men are off until competing at the Illinois Wesleyan Invitational on April 3rd and 4th.
