As the racing season inches closer at the Knoxville Raceway local drivers are blowing the dust off of the equipment and getting that urge to get the car ready. Last season was a banner year for Tasker Phillips as he was one of the stories of the season, winning the 360 season championship. What was unique about that win, was he originally was running for points in the 410 division. After an early season crash that caused the team to shut down, he switched to running for points in the 360s and led nearly the entire season. Phillips tells KNIA/KRLS he was never going for the points title, rather that put on a show for the fans and see how many times he can score a win.

Phillips: “That’s how I kind of raced last year, if that’s the last time I raced, so be it. We were just having a blast and there are certain similarities to farming. The more prepared you are, the easier it gets.”

Phillips indicates he will run both 410 and 360 classes this season. Find a full interview in part of the Matt Moro and Karl Chevrolet Sprint Car Racing Radio Preview Show in our on demand section.
