The Pella City Council approved a contract to extend University Street east from 240th to 250th Place at their meeting on Tuesday.

Eight bids were submitted, with the council moving ahead with TK Concrete for $4.09 million.

Pella Public Works Director Wilf Nixon says the project will begin by early April to extend University Street east and Baseline Drive north to the new street to accommodate the new indoor recreation facility that’s under construction.

The extended streets should be ready for use by this winter, with a tentative completion date of October 30th.
