The City of Knoxville will hold a groundbreaking for their new public safety/city hall building on April 7th.

This project is moving forward at 102 N. Lincoln Street, the site of the former middle school. Due to a partnership between the City of Knoxville and the Knoxville Community School District, this property has been transitioned to the city to serve a new purpose: providing a modern, secure home for Police, Fire, and EMS teams.

This project is being funded through the Local Option Sales and Services Tax (LOSST), and because this revenue is generated by a 1% tax on taxable goods and services purchased by both residents and visitors, there will be no direct impact on property taxes. The event will be at 1:00 pm and will give attendees a chance to grab a photo, meet first responders, and see the plans for the building.
