For the second consecutive day, high school athletes from across the state enjoyed an early taste of outdoor track and field competition, and on Saturday, it was the girls who competed at Central College.

Traditionally an indoor meet, the warm air moved festivities to Ron and Joyce Schipper Stadium this past week. Pella’s girls — shorthanded as spring break wrapped up, still had several athletes get a preview of what’s to come when competition officially moves outside by racing on the oval. Top eight finishes for the Dutch included:

100 Meters – Kamry Trine, 4th – 12.67
200 Meters – Haylie DeVries, 7th – 26.8
400 Meters – Bryn Paulsen, 4th – 1:02.93; Erica Vos, 6th – 1:04.16
800 Meters – Carleigh Altwine, 5th – 2:27.48; Ruth Dunham, 6th – 2:28.57
3000 Meters – Ruth Dunham, 3rd – 10:47.1
