A Newton man faces a class D felony for alleged sex acts with a teenage girl. Lt. Wayne Winchell with the Newton Police Department says 21-year-old Ryan Andrew Hammen has been arrested in connection with a call the department received early Monday morning. Officers responded to a residence in northwest Newton to investigate a claim that an adult male had possibly committed sex acts with a female juvenile. Based on the subsequent investigation, Lt. Winchell says Hammen has been charged with 3rd degree sex abuse.

Court records show Hammen made his initial court appearance following his arrest Monday, and a preliminary hearing is set for next Monday, March 30th.
